Lopar is a tourist place on the island of Rab, 12 km away from the old town of Rab. The place is known for its exceptional natural beauty and picturesque sandy beaches along the highly indented coastline.
The main economic activities of the local population include tourism, agriculture, stockbreeding and fishery.
Lopar is surrounded by numerous islands and islets, notably Goli otok, Grgur, Lukovac and Školjić.
A hundred years of tourist tradition in Lopar and significant investments into tourism, the island’s pristine nature and valuable cultural and historical heritage, as well as the many prizes the island of Lopar has been winning for years, are a guarantee of a supreme quality vacation. In 2003, Lopar was awarded the “Blue Sail” award, awarded to the best small town in the Kvarner region. In year 2011 Lopar won "Blue flower"for best small touristic place in region and special award for the best beaches offer in Croatia.
The largest and most famous is Paradise Beach, 1.5 km long. The most important tourist facilities are situated along this beach. In 2003. the beach got the "Blue Flag", an international symbol of quality and preservation of environment and safety of bathers. Apart from the tourists who come to Lopar, many tourists from the island of Rab and from other near-by islands come to enjoy the beauties of the Paradise Beach.
Not far from the Paradise Beach is the beautiful beach Livačina. Under the shade of the pine trees, you can enjoy one of the restaurants and bars which offer food and refreshment for the swimmers and a large selection of props you can use at the beach.
If you prefer a more intimate atmosphere and if you want to enjoy your peace on beaches with fewer swimmers, you should continue towards other picturesque coves along the coast of Lopar. All the coves are surrounded by picturesque and pristine landscape – God-given nature. Visitors are sure to fall head over heels in love with Lopar’s beautiful nature.
Sahara: The most famous clothes-optional beach in Lopar. It is located not far from the Paradise Beach, but far enough to enable you to get away from everyday routines. Tak a 30-minute walk on marked trails and find yourself enjoying the unique view and landscape. This is a sandy beach surrounded by shrubs, and there is even some shade to be found if you need it.
The restaurant offer in the town of Lopar is exceptionally rich: fifty restaurants, taverns, konobas and pizzerias offer a rich selection of fish, meat and vegetarian specialties. The restaurants mostly offer healthy food, especially fish and organically grown vegetables from local vegetable gardens, the quality of which has been traditionally nurtured. Moreover, the people of Lopar are always happy to offer local potatoes and tomatoes of characteristic taste and supreme quality, grown on the local soil, perfect for growing such cultures. Especially proud of this, restaurants and tourist workers can assure their guests that they will enjoy only high-quality food and supreme-quality service in their establishments.
